Motorized vs. manual blinds: which is worth it?
Motorized blinds are wonderful, but they aren't always necessary. Here's a simple way to decide window by window.
When motorized is worth it
Motorize the windows you'd otherwise fight with: tall or wide windows, anything behind a couch or sink, and whole rooms you want to open and close at once. Add a schedule and they lower at sunset and lift at sunrise on their own — great for privacy and for making the house look occupied when you're away.
Smart control (app, voice, or automation) turns them from a convenience into part of the home. If you already have a smart home, motorized blinds are the natural next piece.
When manual makes sense
For small or easy-to-reach windows, a quality chain blind is reliable, timeless, and easier on the budget. Many homeowners mix the two — motors in the main living areas, chains elsewhere — to get the best of both.
The good news
You don't have to choose up front. Design each window the way it suits you — our configurator lets you set the operation per blind, and we'll price it out with no obligation.
